Dry mouth has many possible causes. If the cause is related to medications, sometimes these can be changed. If the dry mouth is because of other factors, then strategies need to be created to make you comfortable. A dry mouth requires very carefully made dentures and extremely clean dentures. Question: My 89 yo Father can't eat without pain, due to new dentures. The problem seems to be bone loss. We have had 2 opinions any suggestions Thank you,Susan

Your father deserves a better quality of life. If he has had recent tooth removal, changes will occur quickly and he will need to see his dentist for adjustments. If he has been without teeth for a long period of time, he likely has little bone support and the denture is not stable. Question: I dropped my dentures in the sink this morning (Sunday) and need to attend a very important meeting today. Is there anything that I could use to repair the dentures until I can get to my dentist this week? Help!
Mar 21, 2011 4:45 pm
No, your dentures must be removed so that you can clean the areas of your dentures that touch the tissues in your mouth. If you are not at home, consider rinsing your dentures descretely in the restroom after meals. To properly clean your dentures rinse with warm warm and gently brush them with liquid soap.

Question: what to do if a tooth falls out of denture is there a good type of glue to use
Mar 21, 2011 4:44 pm
Do not attempt to repair the denture yourself as glues and other methods can destroy your denture. Return to the dentist or prosthodontist who made your dentures for proper repair. You also should have an oral examination at least once a year while wearing dentures.

Question: what to do about an over abundance of saliva?
Mar 21, 2011 4:42 pm
Over abundance of saliva is typical with new dentures. This should pass in a few days. If not, you probably have normal saliva but are not swallowing effectively. Perhaps your dentures should be re-evaluated. Rarely does an individual produce too much saliva.
