Diabetes and good oral health care go hand in hand. Even if you are at the point in life where you will be losing all your natural teeth, it is still important that the replacement teeth are well-fitting and comfortable to allow you to eat foods to help you keep your blood sugar levels under control. You may consider seeking the care of a prosthodontist, a dentist with three additional years of training after dental school including the care and maintenance of dentures. Dental implants provide an excellent alternative to complete dentures to retain replacement teeth. Dental implants are hollow titanium screws or cylinders that are surgically placed into the jawbones and after healing are locked in the bone. Dental implants are not an option for every patient and you should be thoroughly evaluated by a dentist or prosthodontist. It may be wise to obtain a second opinion if you are seriously considering dental implants.A prosthodontist is a dentist with three additional years of training after dental school including the care and maintenance of dentures and dental implants. Question: what gum to chew with dentures
Mar 18, 2011 11:26 am
Dentures and chewing gum do not usually work well together, no matter which brand of chewing gum you decide to try. The gum typically sticks to the acrylic plastic in the denture and may break a seal on the dentures, which will loosen them as a result. Gum may remain stuck to the denture and eventually harden and discolor. Ultimately, if you wear dentures, you should avoid chewing gum.

Question: I ma thinking about new dentures, is there any difference in comestic dentures opposed to regular dentures
Mar 18, 2011 11:25 am
Some dental offices have different quality of dentures that use denture teeth that may look more natural and more like real teeth. These denture teeth are more expensive, but do look better. Many dentists do not discriminate between "cosmetic" and "regular" dentures and only fabricate the best quality denture they are capable of delivering.
