Question: How can you tell the expiration date of Fixodent?
May 12, 2010 10:52 am
Thank you for contacting Fixodent Denture Living. Fixodent Denture Adhesive does not have an expiration date since it is considered a medical device. The average shelf life is 3 years (unopened) from the manufactured date, when stored at room temperature.

Question: I'm pregnant and have dentures. Is it safe to use the adhesive while pregnant?
May 11, 2010 10:21 am
Thank you for contacting Fixodent Denture Living. If you are pregnant or nursing a baby, we recommend you check with your doctor before using Fixodent.

Question: Can Fixodent be used safely to hold a crown with a stud?
May 10, 2010 10:35 am
Thank you for contacting Fixodent Denture Living. While we haven't tested Fixodent for the use of holding dental devices such as partials, plates, bridges, caps, crowns, etc., we don't expect a problem using Fixodent on these types of appliances.
Due to the different types of materials, metals, etc. used on partials and bridges, we would suggest that you contact your dentist for the manufacturer's suggestions on adhesives appropriate for your appliance.

Question: How do you clean Fixodent off your dentures?
May 07, 2010 11:24 am
Thank you for contacting Fixodent Denture Living. To remove denture adhesive from your dentures, brush your dentures with very warm water using a stiff denture brush, and a denture paste or toothpaste. We also recommend using a denture cleanser such as Fixodent Denture Cleanser with Proguard.

Question: How much adhesive do you put in?
May 06, 2010 11:16 am
Thank you for contacting Fixodent Denture Living. Fixodent adhesive cream should be applied to your dentures in small strips or a series of dots, making sure not to apply it too close to the edges. Press dentures firmly in place and hold briefly. Many denture wearers find one use a day is sufficient. If you are using Fixodent more than twice a day or have problems with your denture hold, consult a dentist about the fit of your dentures.

Question: How do I get the adhesive to release so I can get the uppers back out? I put them in about 6 hours ago and can't get them back out.
May 05, 2010 10:51 am
Thank you for contacting Fixodent Denture Living. To remove your dentures, swish mouth with warm water or a mouthwash like Scope. Warm water will help loosen the seal. For the bottom denture: Pull slowly on the denture (do not jerk) while applying a rocking motion. For the upper denture (Removal may be more difficult- more surface area): Place thumb against the inside front teeth. Press upward & outward toward your nose.
If the suggestions above don't work:
Rinse the mouth again with warm water and try blowing up a balloon or blowing a whistle.
Bite into a firm piece of fruit or vegetable, like an apple or an ear of corn.
Avoid using any object except your fingers (not your fingernails) to pry the denture loose to avoid injury. If you airway is not compromised (no difficulty breathing, dentures not blocking airway, etc.) wait overnight and try again in the morning after a cup of coffee or tea.
If you do not have success with these techniques and you are uncomfortable leaving your denture in overnight, you could seek assistance in a hospital emergency room or a 24-hour dental service.
