I am 42 I got my full set of dentures at 30. It took me forever to get used to them. I would like to add that it took awhile to get used to the best type of glue or adhesive to use. I chose to use the fixodent powder it seems to work the best for me the other types like the adhesive tapes or strips just did not seem to work for me. It does get easier the dentist said that I needed to keep trying to say the state Mississippi over and over as far as getting the sss's sound. Hope this helps. And yes the grinding will stop there is nothing in there to grind. There is a key to taking out the top plate if you press your thumbs on the inside of the top dentures and push forward they just pop out. Really hope this helps you.
