Hi Smile :) I actually added my last post on July 6th as I'm still in the process of getting prepped for my full dentures. I went in last Monday, July 11th, and had my final impressions taken. I thought that would be my last appt before the final extractions, but I have to go back this Wednesday for some type of fitting and picking out the color/size of the teeth. As of now, July 27th is the date that I'll have the last of my teeth extracted and my new smile put in. I'll definitely put up another post after this next appt to continue on with my story.
I can definitely relate to your thoughts about the dental work, dentists and finances. It's not an easy choice by any means and it seems like every process costs tons of $$ and lots of time. I did speak to my dentist about the denture implant idea on my front, lower jaw and he said that was definitely a possibility. However, he said that if I learn to function well with the new dentures....I may not want them. I did express my great fear of bone loss and facial changes and he said I'll have a 2 year window to figure out what I want to do. Sounds like the whole denture implant scenario could be kinda expensive too - so I'll see what the future holds. Lucky for me, my Mom has had dentures for years and she has had minimal bone loss outside of the initial shrinkage....so I'm praying to the good Lord above that I'm just as lucky.
I'll do my best to keep this updated with anything new/helpful. Good luck with making your choice and I'd be happy to hear about your experience with whatever you choose.
