Reply to The cost

The total cost for my new upper and lower, plus full extractions, along with 2 implants in the front for the lower denture will be a little over $19,000. My dental insurance is a dental HMO (Metlife-Safeco). I have to pay $7,200 co-pay and the insurance is paying the rest. I haven't had the procedures done yet but starting next week with the impressions and oral sedation/extraction at the end of February with immediate dentures after the extractions. I'm getting porcelain teeth so there is a bit extra cost for that and for the sedation (general). I don't want to be awake during the extractions. I live in Northern California.

Seems pretty expensive to me, but I'm limited where I can go because of the Dental HMO rules. If I switch dental offices they are not convenient for the many follow up appointments (would have to go to another city). The dentist seems well qualified. Office is very nice (nearly new). I'm not happy the oral surgeon doing the extractions only does them once a month (and on a Friday no less). Worried about the weekend not being able to go in if there are any problems. I'll grill them a bit more on that before I formally sign off on everything and give them my $$.

Hope this info helps as a comparison for costs. I was quite shocked to say the least when I was given the breakdown of costs! But still going through with it as I want a great smile and teeth when this is all said and done.
