i am getting dentures shortly, and im a little scared. i am not even 30 yet and have noone to answer my questions. i called and talked to the denture place i am going to and they said that i should wait on getting my top teeth pulled but wont that make it harder to adjust to the dentures? also, does it affect anything to get teeth pulled and have dentures right away? does it hurt to wear them right after getting everything pulled? what are the best dentures?

Hi. I've had my upper dentures for 2 years, and I just got my lower ones done last week. Both times, I got immediate dentures. I think that's the best way, for a few reasons. As the other post mentioned, it helps slow the bleeding, but it also helps control the swelling and helps the gums conform to the dentures as they heal.
Not gonna kid you about it, kiddo...it's gonna hurt, and you'll need to be a trooper. The first 3 or 4 days are the worst, but then things will slowly begin to get better. The afternoon of my surgury, when the drugs and gas and novacain wore off, was real intense. If you get immediate dentures, you should be told not to take them out for the first 24 hours. My dentist actually had me come back the next day so he could help me take them out the first time. Once your past that "first time", things begin to improve, a little at a time. You should expect to make a number of trips back to the dentist for awhile for adjustments.
Stock up on soft foods and juices. (Soup, cottage cheese, soft scrambled eggs, yogurt, etc.) Try to do what the doctor says, and be patient. It's a slow process. Good luck, and be strong!

I turned 40 in November, I got all my teeth pulled out and got my dentures the same day. (The day after Valentines day) Yes it hurts but I was glad to have pretty new perfectly straight teeth. It gave me a reason to smile again.

I went to Aspen Dental and I was told that I could have as many adjustments as I needed for the first year so I think that means that the actual "temporary" dentures will be fitted to be the actual "permanent" dentures. I recommend Aspen, they have four different styles of dentures and costs. I looked in to many different places and found that Aspen had the best price and service.
