I just recently got new dentures, First top ones then bottom ones a week later.  I am a new denture wearer. It is very hard to get used too. My gums get very sore and there seems to be sharp bone sticking out that works it way past my gums and I can feel it with my toungue. Is that normal? Do the gums get tougher. I have not been able to tolerate wearing the bottom dentures at all.

I don't believe you. I never heard of a dentist making a patient go 9 weeks w/o teeth. What did U eat. This is my 2nd week with just the uppers and I can't even bite a soft banana. How can U possibly eat anything.

HI, yes like you just got dentures,I live in idaho but I love my dentist Dr. Watt , he knew what he was doing in this field, I knew  very little about dentures , he took the time to explain every  thing to me , very kind man. but he pulled all my teeth in two days , and because I don't work anymore  I didn't get my teeth for about 9 weeks  LOL  stayed home for all that time , so my gums healed very well ,  when I did get my teeth they fit perfect and I love them .  So far I can eat anything even steak  . So I would say be sure to check out the dentist before you have anything done , this is your life we're  talking about  , so please go back to your dentist and let him make it right teeth are to costley to not be right .    BEST OF LUCK

What you are experiencing is normal. I suggest you go back to the dentist and have this area looked at, adjustments can be made to the denture and the sharp pieces of bone can either be removed or ground down. In most cases they work themselves out as you heal. Since you are so new to dentures you will be experiencing a lot of changes over the next couple of months. Keep going back to the dentist until you are completely comfortable. Rinse your mouth several times a day with warm salt water.
