Removing dentures after using adhesive

Posted: May 30, 2011 8:28 pm

I've only had top dentures for about 5 days but I'm having an awful time removing them at the end of the night.  It hurts when I try to get them out.  Any tricks?  The adhesive is like super glue.

HI, I found that putting the adhesive "as directed" was more than I could handle. So, for my top, I just put some one each side, and skip the spot in the middle. It is working fine for me, you might try that? Good luck.

My first day wearing dentures, I had sore gums.  The dentures seemed like they would never come out.  I had too much adhesive, and only had the teeth in for  less than  6 hours. Today is day 3, my gums are less sore, I used less adhesive, and have kept them in over 12 hours.  I think with the warm water gargling I should have little trouble taking them out.

Swoosh warm water in your mouth. This helps with mine. Then, when you get them out, take a dry paper towel and wipe your mouth to get the adhesive out of your mouth. After, that then I swoosh some more water then mouth wash.

I actually only have a hard time if it hasn't been more than 8 hours since I used the 'goop.'  Powders and the Seabond only last about 4 hours with me.

You have to rock them back and forth and side to side gently.  It may take a while to gently get them out.
