I was able to eat solid foods a week after having teeth pulled and dentures in.  I did have one painful spot, but it was the temporary liner and they fixed it fine.  Chew on both sides and chew slowly.  I have found that food doesn't taste as good and I have to eat much slower than before (because I can't tell if I've really chewed up the food enough).  Ah, the joys of new dentures!

Not sure what you mean normal.  WIth dentures we learn to chew and bite differently than before.  I'm 7 weeks out now since full extractions and dentures and I was able to eat a quesadilla the other night and last night I had some fried cheese.  I ate a small bit of tri-tip roast on Monday.  My dentist advises to bet with the canine teeth and chew food on both sides instead of just one side.
