I am 35 and considering getting dentures. I have a few questions and frankly, no one to turn to.

1. What was the final deciding factor for you?

2. Do you have implant supported dentures? I am looking at those and would like opinions on them.

3. What was your recovery pain & timeframe like?

As I sit and write this, I am in so much pain that I would love to do away with. It's in my face, my ear, my head. It comes and goes. And I struggle with doing something so permanent, but I look in the mirror and just think yuck! They hurt, they're ugly, and IF they can be fixed, it will take more than I'm willing to do. I just struggle with that final push.

Much of the decision has to do with what the future holds for you. Right now you are uncomfortable and sounds like in pain. Healthy natural teeth would be best but if they are not to be then dentures can be a very satisfactory replacement. Try not to get too hung up on the pain part- the pain goes away. You have to go into this with a good attitude and know you are making a positive effort to improve your health and appearance.

When I got my dentures I was 36 and I was at a turning point in the life of my teeth, years of wearing partial dentures and crowns that were in desperate need of replacement was upon me and I had to make a decision based on what would be best for me and my family. We had finances to consider as well as longevity of the whatever was done. Dentures while a scary proposition seemed like the best thing for me- I had full support of my husband and many close friends. I did it! And have had wonderful success over the past 17 years. It sounds like you are ready to go for it.
