Just can't get used to paste.

It has been 2 weeks since getting my upper denture.  I just can't seem to get used to the paste at all.  Does anyone use the powder or adhesive strips and does it work for you.  I got an immediate denture and have to wait several months to reline this one and it feels like the very back will not stay against my palate.  Maybe i need an adjustment?

I feel for ya!!  I'm new to this as well although I had to go without dentures for over 3 months.  Now that I have my full set, it's going to take some time to adjust and I am not a patient person!  On the adhesive issue, even though my uppers fit well I knew that if I tried to eat, they would come loose.  And no questions on the lowers coming loose, it's a given!  Tried the yucky pastes and HATED the mess left on my gums.  Now I use the Fixodent Extra Hold powder and it is wonderful!  Holds great and not much residue left in mouth.  If you do have any to remove, I use a dry washcloth and just rub around my mouth.  Can also swish you mouth with water but it's much better than having gobs of goo left over.  Also, just soaking my dentures in water will remove residue left on them.  I am going to try a different powder called Rigident.  It is supposed to be one of the best adhesives but I had to order it online as stores do not carry it.  I hope you find some relief and give the powder a try.  Guess we both need to hang in there!!

I am like two months in. I have had one reline done so far. I am scheduled for another in January. In meantime I am using Polident powder for my upper. I love it. It makes them feel so much more natural and lasts a good 2-3 days for me. My bottoms I use Fixodent because I need something really strong. I do like the Polident better I think and may start using it for the bottom one too. My teeth look totally different from before because I had such a mangled mess before. Yet, people who don't know I had them done don't even notice. I think some people, it just didn't matter. I am who I am and they were good with that. :) I am lucky to have friends like that :) You will do fine. Keep getting relines if they stay to loose. Best of luck to you and enjoy your new smile :)

I had some more adjustments done yesterday and i'm feeling much better.  I never thought much about adjusting to the denture because i was so worried about what everyone would think and so far noone has noticed.  My new smile is beautiful though.  I looked at pics from a couple of months ago last night and even i can't tell the difference.  I'm starting to get used to paste , but the problem is when i'm eating  they still become loose and move around.  I guess i will continue to have problems due to shrinkage of my gums.

Yes!  All of the above.  I have only partials, but at only two weeks in, you may have to give it time for the gums to heal completely before getting a better fit.  Also, if the paste is yucky, definitely try the other options.  I've read posts where someone used strips for the lowers and powder on the uppers and it worked well.  I will be going to full dentures within a year, so I'm gleaning all the information I can and am learning SO MUCH!  Also, ask your dentist about adjustments.  You shouldn't have to wait several months for an adjustment.  Relining is a major adjustment, but small ones to alleviate minor discomfort spots should be done in his office.  All the best to you; I hope you will keep posting your progress, as I'll be watching and hoping things get better for you!
