Problem with Speaking

Posted: September 15, 2011 11:13 am

It's been two weeks since I started using my new plates.  I don't have a problem with eating, but I do think I am talking funny.  What can I do about and will it ever go away?

I just had 22 teeth pulled and full uppers and partial lowers put in... I talk funny too!! This just happened Thursday Oct 13th, it's sunday Oct 16 and the talking thing is getting better, talk slower and pay attention to how you form your words and it will improve quickly!!

I Love my dentures... I haven't smiled in 3 years because of missing teeth, now? BEAUTIFUL SMILE!!

Thank You Dr. Bennett!!

I used to have that too at first. I've had my plate for three and a half years now. I hate it them,  but have learned to live with it. Now when I'm NOT wearing them, I talk funny!:) it sure takes adjustment, doesn't it?

It will get better. I also had trouble at first, try talking slower till you get used to your dentures. It's different, that's for sure but as in all new things, you learn how to adjust.

I got my uppers and lowers about 2 weeks ago.  I sounded like Elmer Fudd.  The dentist said 2-3 weeks and it will improve. It has not perfect yet but much better.
