Talking with my new upper denture

Posted: November 3, 2011 4:52 pm

I am in retail, and am getting prepared to go through some training for a new position I just aquired. My problem....I have always been a real talkative person, laugh easily, etc. Now,....I feel like I struggle talking. I am getting better with short sentences, but when a customer asks a question, I need tobeable to just talk, long sometimes. I feel like Im making faces when I attempt to do this,.then become so self conscience Im almost paralized with the fear that people are turned off or judging me in some way. Will this EVER get better?

Hi, I got full uppers and lowers on July 11th. I am in customer service, and on the phone most of the day. It was a struggle at first, but I have kept practicing, ( like singing with the radio, talking to myself ) and speech has become easy again. The use of adhesives was also a terrific help, no fear of the denture slipping around.  It will become part of you, in time, wish you the best!

Hi!---don't feel bad! I'm starting on my 3rd week with full uppers & partial lowers,& like you,I work in retail & come into contact with many people.Talking is somewhat difficult, for sure! I either feel like I'm spitting/salivating/drooling---or lisping,OR making faces trying to enunciate.I'm sure it gets better!
