My dentures stay in fine until I try to eat have tried the paste not real happy with that prefer the powder,still feels a little loose.I would like to know why the roof of my mouth feels ,hard to describe,likes its being pulled on.My mother who also wears dentures has for years says I shouldn't need any adhesives,once my gums go down shouldn't the soft liner from the dentist be enough?

I, too, dislike the feeling of adhesive paste and have that same feeling. My dentist says the feeling occurs as the paste dries out.
You might ask your dentist to try another soft line. I had a soft line with a different soft liner a few months ago and, now, I am good to go (including eating) without adhesive of any kind. It's great (and definitely worth the additional expense).

I found the soft liners helped tighten them a little, but I still needed adhesive. I use the powder on the top. A friend recommended it. I like how it holds them in better. For a little while I got that tugging feeling too. I don't anymore. Don't forget to make sure the roof of your mouth is wet when you put them in. I use Fixodent for the bottom. I am older and don't have the gumline to work with so I have to hammer them down or they float all around in my mouth. It is all still far better than what I had with my own teeth. I do tell people who still have their teeth to take the best care they can with them because dentures are not the same as natural teeth. You will have a hard lining done after 6 months. That may tighten them up again for you. You have to chew on both sides, some foods like caramels will pull them loose, and it is a matter of learning how to chew all over again.
