Regular toothpaste is not approved for use with dentures because it is considered too harsh/abrasive for the acrylic teeth in most dentures. It is better to use a toothpaste (like Fresh and Brite or Dentucreme) that is especially formulated (and approved by the American Dental Association) for dentures. Alternatively, you could use a dish washing detergent like Joy. Also, as long as there is no soft liner in your denture, it is a good idea to soak your denture in a denture cleaning solution like the ones by Fixodent or Polident or, for more whitening power, Stain Away.
I use denture cleaning solution at night and Joy (or, sometimes, Fresh and Brite) for morning and during the day clean-ups. I know it seems like a lot to do, but it is really worth it (and it becomes a routine before you know it). My dentist says that he has never seen a denture as clean as mine.

Hi, I'm Karen, the Fixodent Community Manager. Yes, you can use Crest toothpaste to clean your dentures, and you might also consider using Fixodent Denture Cleanser, too. In fact, I'd like to send you something so you can try our denture cleanser tablets! When you get a moment, please send me an email to smhc.im@pg.com with your name and address. Also, when doing so, please put Denture Living 2106 in the subject line.
I know it's an adjustment getting used to dentures, but in time you will certainly begin to feel more comfortable. Feel free to reach out to me again on our message board if you have any additional questions.
Thanks! ^Karen
