Hurting!!

Posted: April 22, 2012 1:05 pm

Had 17 teeth pulled April 17th an got my upper dentures the same day. I have done pretty well as far as pain goes until yesterday when a starting having pain in one spot. I believe it is where the denture are rubbing in one spot. When I took my dentures out to look at the spot it appears like I may have 2 tiny kanker sores or use 2 spots were the dentures are rubbing. I am going to follow up with my dentist but in the mean time was wondering if anyone knows if it is ok to use ambosol? Eating is tough!!!!

I agree that you need to consult your dentist ASAP. Adjustments are an inevitable part of the process of adjusting to your denture.

Based on the advice I received from my dentist, it should be okay for you to use ambesol (especially, if you use just a little bit at a time).

Hang in there -- the eating will improve.

I'm Karen, the Fixodent Community Manager.  I'm glad you plan to consult with your dentist.  Your dentist can evaluate the sore spots and should be able to adjust your dentures to ease the discomfort.  Your dentist may say it's okay to use an over-the-counter product, but it's always a good idea to check with him or her first.  Rinsing with warm salt water can help.

I know it's miserable to be in pain - keep your chin up!  The pain and soreness will gradually go away, and soon you'll be able to eat more of your favorite foods.
