I did not know you shouldn't use adheaives or soak the dentures if you have a soft liner!  Guess that explains why mine have become so hard that it's painful to chew.  I use the adhesive wafers now to cover the hard spots.  Have another appointment tomorrow.  I was hoping ttghe dentist would do another soft liner.

I started  using the adhesives because I was tired of blowing bubbles when I chewed.  I have full uppers, about 8 weeks old now.   I can eat just about anything, except nuts.

I agree that you should check with your dentist.  However, I note the following:

(i) with a soft liner, at least for a while (until your gums shrink some more), you should not need adhesive (especially, on an upper denture);

(ii) soft liner is fragile and, therefore, you have to be careful how you clean it and what you put on it (and, in this regard, it is generally not recommended that you soak the liner in commercial solutions or use adhesive);

(iii) however, my dentist allows me to use adhesive with my soft liner if I feel I need it (with the understanding that using adhesive may shorten the period of time my soft liner lasts and cause me to incur more expense for additional soft relines) and I soak just the teeth part of my denture in a tiny bit of water and cleaning solution (while being careful that none of it gets any where near the liner).

I'm Karen, the Fixodent Community Manager.  Thanks for your question!  We don't recommend using Fixodent denture adhesive with soft liners.  Your best bet is to check with your dentist about the use of an adhesive with your soft liners.
