Someone please help me figure this out?

Posted: May 11, 2012 11:53 pm

I've been without teeth since 2005 and I am desperate need of dentures. I have no income at the moment, no dental insurance. My quality of life is really poor and I've slipped into a de-pression over having no teeth and everything that goes along with it. I've tried to find grants online, which is like finding a needle in a haystack. I've tried everything I can think of. Local dental school still charge a discounted rate and demand payment up front. I don't qualify for any state or government programs. I am really stuck here. Does anyone have any advice to offer me? Thank you.

Hi I dont know where you are located but in Augusta  GA there is a dental school that studens do the work under supervision of course fornlittle to no moneyndepending on ypur individual case. Also in my area our local electric company help certain amount of people each year with medical dental and home repairs. Try a couple of those in your area.

One thing about the passport situation mamaj - I didn't have time to get one, and blew it off.  I was just in so much agony I didn't care.

I called the border patrol office before I went, and they told me I MIGHT be detained for up to an hour while they checked me out. They suggested I bring a drivers license and a birth certificate, which I did. Fortunately, at the border crossing they just “waived us through” so there was no problem, but even if they had wanted to be "hard nosed" about it...

The fact is, if you're a United States citizen with no outstanding arrest warrants, passport or not, there isn't a thing they can do but let you go home.

Have you tried the local churches? Could you round up some of your friends to have a car wash or something to help you raise the money? I had checked out Mexico for dental work.  Alcodonis Mexico is where to go for dental work.  Dont know about prices, but, even before you go you have to have a passport. Good luck on your journey.

You're not alone - I was in a somewhat similar spot, and I can certainly relate to your remarks about how depressing the whole situation is.

I did extensive on line research, and unfortunately, unless you can qualify for Medicaid or some other type of “welfare” program, you're SOL. My only option was to go to Mexico – much cheaper there than the U.S. Good luck!
