I am on my 3rd day of dentures. I had teeth removed in Jan and dental implants on the bottom in Feb. I just received my dentures last Friday. The bottoms will not be connected for several months yet so they will float till that time. The tops are fitting great and I am learning to adjust quite well. I am experiencing a sore throat and wonder if this is normal. I wore the dentures all day yesterday, but took them out early in the evening as my throat was hurting. After I took them out, it seemed to go away. I have had them in for about 4 hrs today and the sore throat is back. I keep drinking water, but wondering if this is a normal adjustment to something new in my mouth. I go in tomorrow for my first adjustment. This board is very helpful to me. glad that I found it. I am very determined to learn my new normal. So far, from removal to haveing the implants put in, I have had a positive experience. I am looking forward to being able to eat some of my favorite foods again, but know it is not going to happen over night. I believe staying positive and working thru the experience is the best way to deal with ths learning process. I feel so bad for the posters that are having bad experiences. I hope you will all stay with it. I know you will be happy in the end.

I'm Karen, the Fixodent Community Manager. I'm glad to hear you're adjusting to your dentures. Your dentures will allow you to enjoy life with a confident smile, and I'm sure your positive outlook is an encouragement to others.
Dentures can cause a sore throat if they're too long. Since you're going in for your first adjustment, discuss this with your dentist. He or she can check the length of your dentures and adjust them accordingly.
Let us know how it goes!
