I am new here, big day is next week, & I have a silly question

Hi.  Next week I will have the rest of my extractions and the immediates delivered.  Besides all of the normal questions and fears, I have one really odd-ball question.  I have a very nervous and busy tongue.  I know that I will try and play with the darn things, especially the lowers.  Does anyone else have that problem.  How do you make yourself stop?

Thanks,

Sandy

thank you for the feedback.  I like mints but will wait for a day or two to avoid dry sockets.

Karen is giving good advice. Make sure it is not too soon after the extractions, don't want to risk dry socket!  I had a full upper & partial lower for 6 years and I had been flipping it up and down for all 6 years!  I say "had" because I got my last 6 lowers pulled at 1 PM ET today. So far, so good on not flipping. Of course, I can't fully feel everything yet due to the numbness!

Best of luck to you!

Hi Sandy,

I'm Karen, the Fixodent Community Manager.  Your question isn't silly at all - I think it's great to think proactively.  Check with your dentist to see if sucking on a piece of sugarless candy would be a good solution for this.  Also, practice counting and reading aloud.  This will keep your tongue busy and help you adjust to speaking with your new dentures.

I wish you the best as you go through the rest of your extractions and receive your immediate dentures.  Post again to let us know how you're doing!
