The beginning stages.

Hi everyone.  Last thursday I went to the dentist after 9 years and I was confronted with some tough decesions after my visit.  I can either fix all of my top teeth for a large amount of money or get dentures on top.  All but my six canines on bottom are going to be pulled also.  I go for my bottom impressions on friday.  I was pretty upset on thursday, really only about getting the top done because I feel sort of like a failure in taking care of my teeth, but if you can't afford to go what is one supposed to do?  Anyways I almost immediatley new it was what I wanted to do.  I wouldn't be in anymore pain or embaressment, and I would have a perfect smile.  I also wouldn't feel sick anymore I was told I had a few abses teeth as well.    None of my friends as least that I know of have never really had to deal with anything like this.  I guess I am just embarassed right now, but once its over and I am a few weeks into it I will be feeling pretty good.  Thanks everyone for posting your stories it has really given me hope and a sense of relief that I made the right choice.

Hi, you have lots of positive things to look forward to. Sure the first week or so after your teeth are pulled is rough, but, everyday gets better. You will have a beautiful smile, you will learn to eat foods that maybe you haven't eaten in years,(because your teeth hurt).  For me, the best part is going to the dentist now for an adjustment, and my teeth are out of my mouth when they are worked on.  Take care and let us know how you are doing.

I'm Karen, the Fixodent Community Manager.  Please don't feel like a failure.  I'm sure it took a great deal of courage to visit the dentist and make this decision.  It sounds like you're doing what's best for your mouth and your health, and that's definitely a success story.

I know your friends haven't gone through this, but you're not alone.  If you have questions along the way, be sure to write back.  I'm glad to hear the posts on the message board have been helpful, and we'll continue to provide support and advice when you need it.

Wishing you the best!

^Karen
