Hardliner

Hi, I have 5 months to go until I get the hardliner in my dentures. I have talked to my dentist about the procedure. Will it really make my dentures fit better? Anyone have input on this? Thanks

Hi, so far I have had 3 soft liners in 5 weeks. They really do make a difference.

I can't speak for lower denture because I only have upper denture.  But, yes, a hard reline will improve upper denture fit.  A new impression is taken of the current state of your gums (after shrinkage following extractions and/or healing) and new acrylic is put on the denture to conform to that state, resulting in a better fit.

Five months is a long time to suffer with dentures that don't fit.  Please consider asking your dentist for a soft reline (which can be done in the dental chair unlike the hard reline which is done in a dental lab) in the interim.  It will be make a world of difference!

Good luck.

I'm Karen, the Fixodent Community Manager.  A hard liner will allow your dentures to fit better, but I'm sure you'd like to hear from others about their experiences.  Members of the message board, we'd love to hear from you!

Thanks!
