This is my second day with lower dentures. I had them inserted the same day as my extractions. Can someone explaing the muscle training of the lower jaw? I never heard of this before. I am using fixident (sparingly) and have managed mashed potatoes and broiled fish. Thanks to anyone who can help.

yeah its awhole new ball game with the bottoms ... I guess your talking about feeling like there's tooo many teeth in your mouth and your bottom part of your mouth is kinda weird like stiff ! It took me about 2 weeks to get over that feeling. I've only had mine for about a month now but at first I wanted to throw them back at the dentist but didnt lol. I can eat almost anything now and really don't think about having them in my mouth. Just keep rinsing out your mouth with salt water. that helps the gums toughen up. And did they give you anything for the sore spots ?? Gave me Benzodent fi

I'm Karen, the Fixodent Community Manager. Thanks for writing - it sounds like you're doing well! While an upper denture is held in place by suction, a lower denture just sits on the ridge of your gums. In time, the muscles of your tongue and cheeks will learn to keep your lower denture in place. The longer you wear your lower denture, the more your muscles will adapt, and thus learn to hold it in place.
I hope this answers your question. If you have further questions, please let us know!
