So Ive had extractions and then full dentures put in.. and boy that was painful the first day I was smiling and enjoying my new smile and of course I was still so numb.. However the days that follow were full of pain killers, lidocaine and cleanning them.. I just had my second adjustment today and I feel a lot better.. However I was very broke hearted when I tried to eat a cookie, immense pain.. I was wondering how long until I am able to chew? Ive been having protein shakes and soup.. But curious when I can have something more solid! Thanks to al

Don't worry -- after some time, and with some practice, you will be able to eat cookies.  In the meantime, try one or more of the following (especially, with the help of a glass of milk or a cup of coffee):  Devil Dogs; Yankee Doodles; Coffee Cake; Marble Cake; Carrot Cake (or any other cake without hard icing on it).

Although they are all covered in the post to which Karen included a link, my personal favorites at your stage of recovery were:  meatloaf and mashed potatoes; baked potatoes and sour cream; and, best of all, chocolate milkshakes.

For the first few weeks, you need to stick to really soft foods.  After that, you should experiment with foods that are increasingly harder.  Just cut everything into really small pieces and chew it on both sides of your mouth.

Good luck (and let us know how you do).

I'm Karen, the Fixodent Community Manager.  I'm glad you're enjoying your new smile!  I know it must be frustrating not being able to eat your favorite foods right now though.  Start with softer foods, such as eggs, baked potatoes, fish, and soft cooked vegetables.  In time, you'll be able to eat foods which require more chewing.  Check out this post from May which provides more great food suggestions.
