dartpro, thanks for that! I'm going to Sexton Dental on July 1st to get 11 full teeth and 13 broken teeth pulled and immediate full upper and lower dentures. I was very nervous until reading your positive post.

well i just had 10 teeth extracted immediate upper and lower dentures all in one day and the cost was 3000.00 dollars and the dentures hurt like crazy when there in but you have to keep them in the first couple of days i guess because of swelling but when i take them out to rinse with salt water and go to put them back in they really hurt and as far as eating it's ganna be awhile before i eat normal food right now when i eat i take the dentures out because i guess that since they are new i can't even think of biting on something cause it hurt's i've been eating soft food like pasta mashed potatoes boneless chicken thing's of that nature but they say in time it gets better i have to get them relined in like 8 to 10 weeks hopefully i'll be used to them by then might have go in and get an adjustment first to maybe ease this gum pain but in the long run it's all worth it when you smile more self esteem confidence can smile now with out putting my hand over my mouth get it done it's not as bad as you think the extractions went well did'nt feel nothing but after the novacaine wears off look out gums will be throbbing i did'nt get no pain medication fogot to ask the dentist but if it gets worse i will call him for something to ease this annoying gum pain had to get this off my chest hope it help's someone like i said it's not that big of a deal when you get your teeth out it's after just make sure you tell him to give something for pain afterwards now go get it done and have a beautiful smile

It depends, each person tolerates pain differently. It also depends where you get your procedure done. Do your research, even if you have sit in the waiting room as I did and talk to others who had the same procedure. I had my procedure done at Affordable Dentures on my 60th birthday. I decided that I would give myself the best birthday present I could wish for, a new smile. I was tired of not being able to smile for pictures, avoiding going places where I'd have to deal with talking with the public, and even passing up certain jobs.
I was given a sedative to take 1 hour prior to arriving for my procedure. Not being used to taking medication, I fell asleep while the dentist was pulling out my lower teeth. After having 25 teeth removed ( 15 difficult) I was awakened by his assistant who told me that everything was over. I had my new temporary dentures and was ready to be taken home ( still unsteady). I experienced some bleeding for the next 24 hours and pain for approximately 1 week.
My advice would be to leave the dentures in for the first 24- 48 hours. Make sure to take all your antibiotics and pain medication as needed. Start off with soft foods, smoothies, and soup until you can gradually eat foods that have more substance. As any sore spots develop, see your doctor for adjustments or soft realigns. The swelling will continue to go down, and you'll see it was all worth it every time you smile with confidence the way I can now. I still have a long way to go and yes, I do get frustrated, but would I do it all over again? Absolutely !!! It takes time, patience, will power, and always prayers.
Smiling At Last

2500.00 isn't all bad, even with dental ins. having my teeth pulled cost a little over 7000.00 and my upper and lower dentures cost over 5000.00, I really don't know why the dentures cost so much, I have family in NB and PA who have dentures and they cost less than 1000.00 for a full set. some say it's because I live in Alaska and everything cost more! good luck in getting the money, I will have my dentures at the end of this month and I can't wait, I know it will be a learning process adjusting to them, but I really miss not be able to chew!!!
