I have had top plate for over 40 years. I never needed any adhesive with the top one. I just got a bottom and new top one less than 2 weeks ago. ( still not using adhesive on the top ) but am using it on the bottom.
I have kind of "practiced" with the tops.. bypushing up with my toungue.. and kind of making a suction with my mouth.. I think this helps the top of the mouth to fit tightly to the plate.
I am adjusitng to having both now..

Thanks for the help.
I am new to dentures and the soreness is gone. I use the paste stuff in the morning and after dinner at night- it is a mess and I hate "the regluing process". A guy I know has been wearing them for 30 yrs and he loves his and never needs adhesive. Is that normal? If I don't have adhesive in there my teeth flop around and I can't talk.
Should I go a refit or wait a few mths, its been about month with my dentures.
Thanks,
sooner

I have been through this process and found a few things that made it easier.
first is warm salt water, helps the soreness and cleans better than anything else.
Rinsenol a product by GUM is the best thing for soothing sore gums. I pour it into the denture itself, I wear my dentures 24/7 and it has taken a little longer maybe to heal but I cannot sleep or look at myself without them. The next thing is powder adhesive is far superior to any gels or blobs of glue you can use. Hope this helps
