october 20, 2010 .hey there i am considering dentures (top only) i've been told not to get the bottom if you really don't need to. so im not even considering the bottom ones.

but i have a gag reflex and cannot stand anything on the roof of my mouth. so i am wondering if i will even be able to wear them. has anyway experienced this problem? i really would like to know. i really don't want dentures but i have like 9000.00 dollars of work that i need done if i want to keep my real teeth. my problem is i have no back teeth on the top. and i'm really scared.

thank you for comments

after two or three weeks you dentist will make the proper adjustments and after the sores are gone, you will be able to chew better. If a surgeon did the work, you will have no problem chewing, and if the adjustments are done properly, and relining.. you will be able to slowly, eat bread, crackers, etc.. you will get used to it..

Make sure you do research on the type of dentures you will get.. IVOCLAR is the best in the market, but costly. If you go with a lower priced denture.. you get what you pay for. Temp dentures are just that, temporary. If a dentist is telling you that he will remove your teeth then your dentures the same day.. you are looking for trouble.. You need the removal, and temp dentures to get the healing to take place.. after about 3 months, then you can get your permanent dentures, which are stronger, etc. If you go with the least expensive you will have problems.. select the best prostodontist or surgeon in your area.. and you will have little or no problems.. you will have a period of adjustment, and be able to eat, soft foods first and eventually eat just about anything you want.. as long as it is not too hard. If you go with a cheap set.. you get what you pay for.. you will be miserable.. it is a period of adjustment. I selected the IVOCLAR system and they are great.. look it up in the internet.. type IVOCLAR, and it has a video. Great technology.. your insurance that you have also has a bearing on what you pay.

Find an Affordable Dentures affiliated practice near you. They offer a new denture wearer package and they are more affordable. You will walk out of there with new dentures the same day if you go in at 7:45 am, no appointment needed.   Rose
