i just had my what remaining teeth extracted (ihad a very bad dentist as a child) and my dentures were ready right then. I asked my personal physican if he would give me a shot for pain before the procedure and he said yes, so you can try that. my dentist gave me 4 diazapam before he started. i was also given nitrix oxide. i know i was given many shots but was more unconscious than conscious. it bled a lot. the whole procedure took 2 hours, but in my town the average cost for everything is $6,000 today is my first day after surgery, i feel fine, i'm having a problem with the lower ddenters but i go in tomorrow to see my doctor and i feel at that time it will be fixed. my uppers are great, they fit wonderfully, to the point where i can hear ssuction when i take them out. if you really need, don't be afraid. good luck

I agree the lower dentures are the worst thing I have ever had! I have had uppers since 10 and I liked my last ones as no one knew I had false teeth..Now everyone can tell...it sucks and I cant talk right! I dont like them or the way I look with them and have had no compliments! like I use to get! very depressed about it! but no more money and so I will have to suffer! I paid out over $4000 for both my upper and lowers. That is out of pocket! my insurance covered $3000.................yes $7000 for an unhappy mouth!

DO NOT put them in hot water to clean them, you will have to get them realigned.Warm water and your denture tablet work great.Well learned lesson.(smiles)

Make sure that you have a good oral surgeon remove your teeth. I had very soft teeth, I'd get a filling and it would either fall out or the tooth would crack. I went to the local medical university and had 27 pulled. Then no matter what they say wait! wait! wait! I waited 7 weeks before I had my first impression made. The first set was made at a dentist office and they were horrible. The next dentist (who made dentures only) said he couldn't beleive they were mine. He made me a full set of dentures that were great. Upon advice from my mother she said NEVER use an adhesive. You will eventually learn how to hold them in with suction and I have always been able to do that. I am 71 now and have never regretted having dentures. I have seen older folks who managed to keep their teeth, but they were gray and cracked and didn't look better than my dentures!!
