Screw-in teeth to hold dentures

Posted: September 27, 2009 11:33 am

I have tried everything you can think of and my lower dentures do not stay...I cannot eat with them on. I can only wear them approx. 1-2 hours a day and after that they hurt so badly. It has gotten to the point where my dentist suggested this form of screw-in type of teeth that the lower denture will somehow latch onto it and help hold them in place. I would like to know if anyone has any suggestions. Believe me I have tried EVERYTHING you can think of...besides these screw-in type things. Thanks

You might need to have them adjusted. I had problems like this with my uppers when I first got them and it came down to an adjustment.  I have also heard the screw-ins cause alot of pain.

The problem you are having is that bone loss is greater in the lower jaw to the upper. I have inplants on the bottom and a plate on the top. I went to a  prostilodontist that does inplants and am extreamly glad that I did. With the upper using  Fixident I am able to eat corn on the cob, apples etc. It was costly, but worth every dime.

how long did it take for you to be able to use dentures after the implants?  Some are instantaneous but others take a long time.  I can wear my (bottom) dentures but nothing keeps them in place for long.  I am removing them and reapplying paste many times a day.  I have not found a GOOD fixative.  Are your dentures on implants removeable?  Thanks for any help as I am considering the instantaneous implants.  Do you remember the cost of yours?  I have no idea of the cost.  Thanks so much.  Gigi
