I am a 46 year old female who looks like I could be Goldie Hawn's twin...identical twin. When I found out my teeth were being replaced by dentures I really didn't think much about it. Until...IT happened. I found out very quickly that losing my teeth also took away my self-esteem. I didn't care anymore. I would say atleast once a week a stranger would comment about how pretty I was and how I could be Goldie Hawn's (in her earlier years) twin. That was BEFORE the dentures. After "IT" (dentures) happened I didn't put makeup on or do my hair...I walked around looking atleast 15 years older. I started to FEEL 20 years older than my age. My back started to hunch, I'd look down as I walked. I tried not to be seen in the light. I lost so much weight that I had to be put on a machine in the hospital to help feed me nutrients and keep me alive! Finally after seeing a picture of myself before "IT" happened and then seeing a picture of myself after "IT" happened I changed my attitude. Even though my lower dentures hurt badly and are very hard to keep in place I am making myself adjust to wearing them. I drink approx. 6 bottles of Ensure Plus a day and MAKE myself eat. Baby food is really good if you have problems with chewing. I found a "miracle" cure for temporarily removing wrinkles...I am NOT by any way promoting the "miracle" I came across..in other words I don't sell it or get any money for telling people to try it. Actually I have two cures. If you would like to hear about them please leave me a message in my "in" box and I will be happy to share the secret. I discovered the first magical cream by a t.v. commercial..People were screaming as they and I watched their wrinkles disappear..That is the more expensive "cure"..BUT it REALLY works..The less expensive way, you can buy at your local grocery store for approx. $7.00! It REALLY works also. So get up and start to gain back the weight you may have lost and regain your self-confidence..my way. Since this is a board for Fixodent I have PLENTY of wonderful things to say about their adhesive. It is the ONLY one that works for me. And it works perfectly! I love it. I have tried all and I mean ALL the other's and NONE compare to Fixodent adhesive. So please don't make the mistake I did by letting years go by hiding your face and avoiding the situation. Bring back that beautiful smile and face you have! It CAN be done. DO NOT GET DISCOURAGED..Try the miracle things that I found just once and you will get hooked like I did. You will be happy you did. I in NO WAY will be held responsible for any sort of negative reactions that could occur. I in NO WAY am forcing anyone to try these things. I am just simply trying to help out a very frustrating situation. Remember...YOU ARE NOT ALONE! You CAN look pretty and young again. YOU own the dentures..Don't let them OWN YOU! Try this first..take a picture of yourself in all different angles with your dentures on..then take pictures of yourself (face) without your dentures in. NOTICE any difference? I'd say I noticed atleast 15 years difference. Thanks to Fixodent my upper dentures are wonderful..I'm thinking of getting the screw-in type of dentures for the bottom. My bone on my lower jaw started to fade very quickly so it makes it really hard for EVEN the wonder adhesive Fixodent to hold them in. That is another thing..take lots of calcium supplements along with milk, etc. Bone loss is very important. If you don't have much bone or strong bones nothing will keep your dentures in. Some people are so darn lucky that they have no problems at all, but then there are us..The "OTHERS" who are less fortunate. Good luck and start lifting your head up..start smiling again..start regaining your self-esteem back. DON'T lose any more weight than you already may have. Weight loss can REALLY add years to your looks. It's amazing. Smile and be happy! And USE Fixodent adhesive..it literally has changed my life in a wonderful way and in my opinion is another miracle I have discovered! Thanks Fixodent!

I just came across your post, mostly because I'm looking into what others have experienced using dentures. I want my dentist to remove all my teeth in order to have dentures......I have very advanced gum disease and there is alot of bone loss...my teeth are falling out on their own. My sister had her teeth removed about two years ago and seems to be doing fine, my mother had her teeth removed when she was 50 so there is a genetic tendency in my family. I would like to hear about your wrinkle cures if you read this. God bless and hope all is well with you.

Please send me the "miracle" info. I got upper & lower dentures in June (hate them). I had taken Fosamax for so many years that it caused osteonecrosis. Anyway, the oral surgeon did my extracts & my dentist did the dentures (BIG MISTAKE). I got the dentures & they just didn't fit right, so after complaining to the dentist, he agreed that my bite was screwed up & the dentures weren't made correctly, so he had the dental lab make a new upper for me at no charge to me. The "free" upper denture is worse than the first one. I put it in my mouth & immediately noticed it screwed up my lips & my whole mouth - you know how you look when you have just put a lemon in your mouth? Well, that was close to what I looked like. I cried for 2 days then went back to the dentist to have him look at it - of course, he didn't see anything wrong, so good thing I kept the other one & I just started using the old upper again. I plan on getting mini-implants for the lower & I will probably go to a prosthodontist & pretty much start all over. I haven't checked but I think prosthodontists are pretty expensive because their field is specialized. I really think the dental office tries to get by as cheaply as possible, using labs that are just like factories, nobody cares how the person who is going to end up with the dentures looks. I would have definitely paid more for better dentures but really wasn't given a choice.

I just read your post and it really hit home with me. I don't look like Goldie Hawn, but I was 56 when this whole denture thing started a year ago and I didn't look my age. People always guessed that I was in my 40's. I've aged about 10 years in the year that I've been battling with these things. The really horrible thing about it is that my dentist of 15 years failed to tell me my options, such as keeping enough of my upper teeth to do partials instead of pulling all of them. I now know I should have researched more and asked more questions, but I had no idea what I was getting myself into. I finally went to a prostodontist and got a new pair last week that I think is going to work (fingers crossed). Meanwhile, I now have wrinkles you can lay a pencil into. So if you have found some miracle cures, please pass them along. I can use all the help I can get, especially from someone who understands what I'm going through. I should have checked sites like this before I ever started, but you can't undo pulled teeth.
