Yes, you should have visited your dentist a good 3/4 times for relining, and making sure that the bottom ones stayed in place. The dentist can reline to help you. There are different thins he can do for you. Good luk

Go back to your dentist or whoever did your dentures and have them relined, after that you will be okay.. the v that is cut is so that you are able to remove them without problems.. when you do. so. The relining may require about several visits,

bonbon: (re: post July 20, 2010):

Just wanted to say, you're right, there is no law about keeping your teeth in. It would be helpful if you shared your experience as to how long you kept yours out before you used them again.

I ask because my Pops took his dentures out because of the pain, and they never fit again.

On the other hand, my Mom kept hers in through the pain (after initial 7 days, taking them out at night, all night to let the gums heal and restore) and she wore hers right up to her death in 2001.

There were many foods Pops could not eat and almost nothing Mom couldn't.

There is no "law" that says you must have dentures; you may, indeed, choose to just have gums that harden and adapt.

For those who wish to keep their expensive costs involved in buying or paying high co-pays for their false teeth though, I would warn against leaving them out completely.

I would highly recommend to these people with pain to make a dental appointment IMMEDIATELY and have their dentist make adjustments. Adjustments basically should continue until there is no soreness.

That's usually around the time you start needing Fixodent or the like, though some people attain such a good fit that they don't for quite a while, and for some rare few, never.

I have heard that at 6 months when the dentist  "religns" your dentures, it's much better. I'm only at month 2 myself. Hope this helps someone.

Check with your dentist to see if you dentures need to be relined.
