Ok. I am only 30 years old and I was told I would need dentures, uppers, at least three years ago. The dentist also told me that in due time, I was going to need a full set ( he asked if I just wanted to go ahead and get a full set). After I got a front tooth extracted, I am going to have to get the dentures. Now I am concerned about the pain because I have a VERY low tolerance and I don't quite get how temps are going to be put in my mouth and the rest of my top teeth have been removed. My recovery time have been a week for one tooth. I cannot guess my recovery time with seven! I am having real bad anxiety. I see the dentist in about a month. Does anyone have some suggestions? I don't know anyone who wears dentures and their is not anyone in my family that does either. Advice would be greatly appreciated. I keep thinking this is going to be a long and painful process.

Its a scary adventure for some,I had to get dentures about 4 years ago (I had immediates).Pulled & fitted same day, I was sore for about 1 week, soups & liquids for a week, others may vary. you may have to go back to be refitted (as I did) I am so happy I did it too. I hated my smile & after the dentures,I was on top of the world. I do need to return to have them aligned again, they will loosen the jaw shrinks, & therefore need to use adhesive. I dont like that aspect of them tho! I did ask to make them as close to my original teeth color so it would not be sooo obvious that I wore dentures!. I hope this helps!

I'm 28 and officially have a full set of dentures, top and bottoms. They put me under sedation and I fell asleep and woke up with a new white smile! It took you a week to recover from just one tooth? oh my.... well i had 12 pulled on Thursday and took3 days off of work. I didn't even fill my rx for pain medicine because I didn't need it. And you're right, it really is a long and painful process. But in the end it's worth it if your teeth truely are that bad & need to come out
