my new dentures

Posted: March 5, 2010 3:13 pm

I got my dentures Monday and this is Friday. I had 16 teeth took out and upper and lower dentures put in.  I think I am doing good with them, I have a few sore spots, I figure as the gums heal it will get worse, but that is ok I will deal with that then.  I have ate chicken noodle soup, mashed taters, mac and cheese and oatmeal all week but last night I had a cookie, I had to break it apart and take a little at a time but I still had one. And today I ate pizza, not much but a little, baby steps.  I would love to have my real teeth and them be good but that is not the way it is so life goes on.  I am just keeping in mind that there are worse things in life.  Monday was not a good day after I had 16 teeth pulled my mouth was so numb that I couldn't tell anything Tuesday was a little better and everyday after seems to get better. The best thing I can think is it is just gets better day by day and I was haveing trouble chewing before cause my teeth was falling apart and today is the first day of the rest of my life.  Hey and maybe I can also get thin to go with my new smile. Time will make it the best thing I have ever done for myself.

I have trouble chewing also. When I bite with the front teeth, the back part moves down. When I chew on the right, the left slips down. Same thing when I chew on the left. But like everyone is telling me, stick with it and it will get better. And I agree, I can use a little weight loss!
