having a hard time adjusting, crying everyday

I am 35. I always had bad teeth. Went to a dentist and he recommended pulling 15 teeth leaving only 5 on the bottom. Getting a full top denture and a partial bottom. I went in on Oct.27 and had this done. Went in last Friday and had them rebased. I am really having serious problems. Beyond the fact that they hurt and are soreand just still trying to get used to them.

To me and my family they don't look right. The gum area sticks out past the teeth and when they are in it looks like I'm wearing a mouth guard with teeth on the bottom. Before when I smiled all you would see is teeth now all you see is gum and barely the top of the teeth on the front and both sides. I try to eat soup and soft stuff and can't chew, the bites don't match up even if I try to use the adhesive. I feel like a freak. I spent all my money trying to get this done, close to $8000, now I will have no money for Christmas for my kids. I am crying every day and wish I had not taken everyones word that this was the thing to do, that life for me was going to be so much better.

I am really struggling and need help... Please is anyone had this problem or is going thru this too?

Good luck to you.   I suffer like you, but not a candidate for implants.  I am trying to learn to eat without upper teeth, and how to not leave the house.  I check my mail late at night so no one will see me...  Hope all goes well and you are eating and smiling all the time...  Oh yes, don't gain too much weight. lol

I was 28yrs old when I had all my teeth pulled for the same reason as you. $8000.00 was a little bit on the expensve side and should have come with some options. You should go back to your dentist and complain about the way they look and the fit. Ask your dentist to replace your dentures at no cost to you. the cosmetic reason for dentures is to have a natural looking set of teeth. Medically it helps with oral hygeine as well as allow you to eat foods that ordinarily would have hurt you to eat or chew. This is not your fault you should have had a lot of fittings with your dentist before the final product. If that doesn't not work for you go to the office and get the states complaint line. Call them and demand something be done about this problem. If that doesn't work compalin all the way to the ADA. It's already a hard thing to go through when you are young without reprecussions from a dentist who does not respect the way you feel and look. Write down what you dislike so when you confront the dentist you don't forget anything that you wanted to say.

I'm in the same boat.  I had it done the day before Thanksgiving.  It looks horrible and I can't chew.  I'm swallowing everything.

You must have a poor dentist or surgeon that did the work, the best thing to do is get some ratings from whoever does the work. A good dentist will not only work with you, and also have a lab in their office to make adjustments.. no person should suffer from having something that is not right. A good set of temporary dentures should not hurt at all, after the healing which take approximately 3 weeks.. after that a relining should take place and that helps. Relinings should occur about every two months after that, and should be covered under warranty. A good set of dentures has warranty for 5-6 years.. unless you opted for a lesser expensive set. You get what you pay for.. a good set of dentures will run..800.00 and up.. anything less is problems! Think about it before you make a decision. If you get a good set of dentures.. there is no need for implants.. they work well.
