DON'T DO IT!!! I would give anything to have my own teeth back. Since I have had dentures (full uppers and lowers) I have lost so much weight. I look approx. 15 years older than I am. My upper dentures will only work with Fixodent paste. They seem to be fine. But my lower dentures have NEVER stayed put. I cannot chew with them on. They hurt me so badly. I have tried everything I think possible and nothing works. Now I am considering the "screw-in" teeth where the denture I believe hooks somehow onto the screws and hopefully helps it stay.

i am sorry your dentures havent worked for you, i too have lower dentures, but i love mine,, how long have you had yours? i have had mine for a week an 2 days, the soreness is still there, but day by day it gets better, everybodys mouth is differant, some heal faster than others,when i am using the fixodent cream, i put just enough to when i bite down i hold it and it sticks,how have you done yours?

I whole-heartedly agree! It's the worse decision I have ever made. They hurt and I have lost any confidence I ever had.

I agree!!!! I got dentures at age 23 and have always regretted the decision...

I agree the lower dentures are the worst thing I have ever had! I have had uppers since 10 and I liked my last ones as no one knew I had false teeth..Now everyone can tell...it sucks and I cant talk right! I dont like them or the way I look with them and have had no compliments! like I use to get! very depressed about it! but no more money and so I will have to suffer! I paid out over $4000 for both my upper and lowers. That is out of pocket! my insurance covered $3000.................yes $7000 for an unhappy mouth!

october 20, 2010 .hey there i am considering dentures (top only) i've been told not to get the bottom if you really don't need to. so im not even considering the bottom ones.
but i have a gag reflex and cannot stand anything on the roof of my mouth. so i am wondering if i will even be able to wear them. has anyway experienced this problem? i really would like to know. i really don't want dentures but i have like 9000.00 dollars of work that i need done if i want to keep my real teeth. my problem is i have no back teeth on the top. and i'm really scared.
