I was very, very sick. I was on all kinds of medicines and depressed, turns out I had a very sick mouth. Since I got my dentures my health has turned completely around, I literally can tell that my mouth is no longer pumping poisons into my body! I love my new teeth, I've learned to live with them very comfortably, although it takes a VERY positive attitude. I can eat all kinds of things now, and I smile and laugh all the time now! I haven't even taken my antidepressants for 4 months now, I feel great!!! Find a good dentist who will give you lots of good drugs and will get you through it. Stay Positive!!

How long does it take before you can start eating again? I got upper dentures a week ago and I am so tired of not being able to eat. I'm trying to adjust to having it in my mouth and I think I'm doing okay with it, but I can't bite down on food or chew anything. Does it take a long time to get over this>

If you only have the upper partial put in now it is very hard to keep it fit in place. Once you get the bottom partial they sort of help eachother stay in place. I feel very strange if I do not have my upper partial in all of the time! That is how comfortable I am with them. The lower ones I'm sure you've read what I've got to say about that! It is the most terrible thing to go thru! Well for me it is and as I read more and more a lot of other people share the same feelings. Maybe you will be one of the "lucky" ones and they both will fit nicely for you. Good luck!!!!!!!!!

Thank You for your encouraging input. I also was very sick and someone told me that there is a connection between the two; bad teeth causing ill health. Now, I only have 2 teeth left on the bottom, and my health is better too from removing the decaying teeth that were keeping me ill and depressed. I am terrified of dentists, but I recently turned 50, and due to all the neglect I inflicted on my teeth by being paranoid, they had to come out. No If's, and's or buts about it. The pain was terrible, so I definitely agree with the part about a Dr. who will give you good drugs because I should have been unconscious my last visit. The Dr. took out 3 in one session and no one should ever experience pain on that level. Thanks again. I am going to get lower dentures as soon as I can find the best price. BTW...any advice on finding the best price? I used to love to smile and laugh, and am looking forward to feeling comfortable enough to do that when it looks like i still have teeth. :)

I agree with you on the after effects of getting dentures.  I have had a lot of work done to prepare for my dentures.  Looking forward to my dentures; which should be in about a week.  Eight bad teeth removed, eight others repaired.  I feel a lot healthier.
