I have had my upper plate dentures for a week, and I find I am doing well with the exception of the right side of the plate that has a V shape cut out in the plate. It is like the V cut in the middle of the upper plate. I find the area very sharp, and is irritating my gum area. My friend has dentures, and she says she does not have a V cut out in her plate like I do. can anybody explain to me if they have that, and why they do that?

there is a string  of flesh that is connected from your upper lip to your upper gum  and that v is so it will fit the string of flesh and wont cut it i have that v as well take it back to the doctor he can smoothen it out or get a nail filer with the smooth side and gently file the sharp edge till its smooth and not sharp

Go back to your dentist or whoever did your dentures and have them relined, after that you will be okay.. the v that is cut is so that you are able to remove them without problems.. when you do. so. The relining may require about several visits,
