Reply to Does getting dentures hurt?

I am THE BIGGEST BABY when it comes to Dentists..I just had my 13 upper teeth pulled this past tues and my dentures put right in....I only had gas and novicaine and it was AWESOME! It was not even CLOSE to what I thought, yeah that day and the next sucked, but by the 3rd day MUCH better....don't be afraid..it is the end result that is the 'carrot' to keep in front of you....it is all in the Dentist and the Oral Surgeon you pick....mine where AWESOME and now I look forward to my visits and I still have more work to do on my teeth....don't be afraid!  I didn't have to go to the hospital or have ANYONE with me...I went to the oral surgeons office by myself, drove myself home...and took NO PAIN medication other than Extra Strength Tylenol PM.  All people are different, that is true....but I don't regret a THING!

 I dont have dentures but I want to get them but I cannot afford them., I looked dental plans out there.  Almost all plans i saw that every tooth they pull....is an additional cost other than the actual denture.  Is that true..?  If you get dentures, do they give you a temporary denture before you get the actual denture.

Thank you for that reply. It has also helped me. I am thinking of getting dentures too, my partial is ok but other teeth look horrible. I have serious cavities with most of my top teeth. I think I can handle the pain because I don't mind the dentist. Normally don't even take the painkillers when I have something done. Only extra strength Tylenol myself. I have seriously thought of doing this for the last 5 years and now have the money to do it. I will be glad when I can smile and not have to worry about it. Thanks again.

The best thing I can think of that I done is just pick a day and go as fast as you can and get it over with. Just think how much better you will be when it is done and over with.  Then you start the healing and it will be on the road to everything getting better for you.  It does hurt but it will be better than haveing a tooth hurting or them poisoning your body. Hope it goes good for you it has been a month for me and I already know it was the smartest thing I have done.
