I am a 39 year young mother of two teenage girls, step mother to one teen and wife to a wonderful husband. I got full dentures Feburary 27, 2009. I had the worst teeth in the world, like the ones you see in those funny email forwards about rednecks. LOL. After Years of pain and cowardness toward my dentist I finally did it and it's almost been a year already. I chose I V sedation to have what was left of my teeth removed, about 17 I think. Did it in one trip to a Wonderful oral surgeon in Southshore Harbor near my home in Santa Fe, TX. Dr. Lavoi put me to sleep, pulled out my bad teeth, and put the new dentures in immediately. Yes it was sore and painful and I go monthly now for liner adjustments but will be getting a permanent liner in Feburary! At first it was very hard but after I discovered fixodent and how to properly use it, I can eat anything I want! Now, this Has caused some weight gain but hey, I can lose the extra baggage! Just being able to eat the simple things is life like salad, peanunts, STEAK, french fries, raw veggies etc. has made all that I went through worth it! My teeth began to turn really bad in my early 20's after two pregnancies. Now I have the most beautiful smile, I laugh with my mouth open and my hands NOT covering up my teeth. My husband loves them too! Dr. Fontenot here in Santa Fe, TX is our dentist, he made the dentures and I see him for follow ups. I know it can be Very expensive, as we had no insurance, but saving money for it really paid off!!! My kids and my mother could not beleive how real they look. I get that all the time, "those are dentures????" I take very good care of them and clean 2X a day, or when needed. So that is my story.
